1892                      President Harrison sets aside Crater Lake Forest Reserve while Congress contemplates the Crater Lake National Park Bill.

The Crater Lake State Park bill again passes the Senate.  Federal money is provided for roads.

August 26             1892       The Democratic Times reports that: A boat was taken up the Rogue River Road this week, to be launched on Crater Lake for the covenience of inquisitive tourists who fail to b able to see enough of the seat-serpent’s tail from the shore.

September 8        1892       The Valley Record on page 3 reported about a dugout canoe launched on the lake.

September 15      1892       The Democratic Times reports that:  “The new pleasure boat placed on Crater Lake by Mr. Pardue recently is named the Roland D. Grant, in honor of the first passenger who braved the terrors of the deep to go out to Wizard Island in the craft, and it is capable of carrying about twelve passengers at trip. Rev. Roland D. Grant, D.D., was a geology lecturer giving talks around the county.

October 30            1892       Highest recorded level of the Lake.  Drops 16 feet to a record low in 1940, but regains nearly all of the loss by 1958.
