Crater Lake Master Plan

 I. Statement of the Problem

Action for the redevelopment of the Crater Lake Master Plan arose in response to apparent inconsistencies in the previous master-plan draft. While use of the park has not changed dramatically since the draft was prepared, a number of issues need to be reexamined in light of current visitor-use trends, proposed wilderness legislation, and state and federal agency recreational developments on adjoining lands in the region. Further, the master plan for Crater Lake National Park must now be developed in compliance with the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.

Among the issues to be addressed in the assessment are the following:
