Friends of Crater Lake will hold their ninth annual meeting at Crater Lake National Park on Saturday.
The Friends is an organization of people who serve as park volunteers for a variety of projects. Members help with trail building projects, serving as winter staff at the park’s visitor contact station at the Rim Village cafeteria, leaders for winter snowshoe walks, providing seasonal interpretation at fire lookouts and doing highway cleanup work.
Saturday’s annual meeting will begin with registration for morning seminars at the park’s community building. Classes include readings from “History of Crater Lake,” a new publication by Rick Harmon that was financed in part by the Friends; updates on Crater Lake’s prescribed fire program; and a report on the Rim Village construction project.
Lunch will be served at The Watchman Restaurant at noon followed by a business meeting at 1:30 p.m., including an election of officers. Cost for buffet lunch is $13.75. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling Judy Buckingham at 783-3136, by email at Crlaranger@aol.com, or Bev Hartell at 882-1137, email at algoma.bev.rvi.net.
Membership in the Friends of Crater is $25 per year for individuals, $35 for families, $15 for seniors age 55 and older, $25 for senior couples or $15 for students. For information contact Buckingham or Hartell.
