Participants call Rim Run volunteers the ‘best anywhere’

Having just completed the 28th year of the Crater Lake Rim Run and Marathon, my wife and we would like to express our thanks to our supporters and the 130 to 150 dedicated volunteers who yearly man the positions along the course in Crater Lake National Park.
These are the folks who have given the Rim Run the outstanding reputation that it has. Participants continuously tell us about the quality of our volunteers, calling them the very best anywhere.
These are ours and your neighbors who, on the second Saturday in August, arise early in the morning to make the trek to Crater Lake National Park, pay the entrance fee, move out to their assigned locations on the rim and are ready by 7 a.m. without fail.
They set up and man the 15 aid stations, four finish lines, provide medical care, communications, help with parking, mark the course and provide timing to the participants and spectators. They do all of this with dedication, skill and a smile of encouragement to our visitors who hail from just about everywhere.
Special thanks to our own kids and grandkids who haven’t escaped the yearly trek to help on the rim.
Finally, to the runners and walkers who this year hailed from just about everywhere – thank you.
