Crash near Crater Lake National Park kills one

A 69-year-old man from Prescott, Arizona, died Friday afternoon when his truck hit a tree near the entrance to Crater Lake National Park.
Oregon State Police said in a media release Monday that Darrell Crittenden was headed westbound on Highway 62 when for unknown reasons his 2001 Nissan pickup veered off the road and struck a tree. The crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m.
Oregon State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded to the crash, which occurred at milepost 58. Crittenden was pronounced dead at the scene.
Highway 62 was reduced to one lane of travel following the crash for about three hours. OSP was assisted by Crater Lake National Park rangers and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
