Incense Cedar (Libocedrus Decurrens)
There are a number of other trees in the southern Cascades which belong more properly to the lower forest zones of both the east and west slopes, but which occasionally reach up into the edges of the park. On the east side is the incense cedar(Libocedrus decurrens), a large tree with light cinnamon-brown fibrous bark and a trunk that flares widely at the ground (fig. 20). Its yellow-green foliage always is massed in a beautiful conical crown. It is common west of Upper Klamath Lake, and occurs sparingly among the yellow pine, sugar pines, and firs, around the southern edge of the park.
