Crater Lake National Park Centennial Oral Histories
Beverly Wilcoxon Romney
I worked at Crater Lake in 1956, 1957, and 1958. We papered our room with bear signs we got from the forest rangers. I have a picture of the workers of 1957. I worked in the laundry room in 1956 and in the dining room in 1957 and 1958. I still have the aqua, pleated skirt we wore in the dining room in 1958. When I left in 1958 to become a teacher the dining room crew gave me a school bell and a card made by someone named Joyner. It is very artistic. It is signed by Ellen and Harry and says, “Thanks for a good 3 years.” I have a lunch menu dated August 24, 1957. Chicken Fried Steak, Pan Gravy is $2.25 and that is the most expensive thing on the menu. I waited on Admiral Nimitz when he visited Crater Lake. Have a wonderful reunion.
